This internal 5.25-inch form factor drive has an ATAPI/Enhanced IDE interface, and can record on both CD-Rs and CD-RWs at a maximum speed of 4x (600 KBps). A large 2 MB data buffer ensures that you donÆt get any buffer underun errors that leave you with ruined CDs. So go ahead and burn all your precious data on a CD and create space for those games you always wanted to install. CeQuadrat WinOnCD 3.6, a CD-recording software, is provided along with the drive. The CD also includes PacketCD 3.0 and TriWorks Gazo Personal Imaging Warehouse software. However, no blank CD-R or CD-RW is included.
Tested on a P-III 500 MHz system with 128 MB of RAM, the drive logged a slow access time of 120ms in Ziff-Davis CD-WinBench 99. The data transfer rate logged was 1.68 MBps and 3.25 MBps on the inner and outer regions of the CD respectively, which is not very impressive.
